Abstract
In this monograph the theory of boundary triplets and their Weyl functions is developed and applied to the analysis of boundary value problems for differential equations and general operators in Hilbert spaces. Concrete illustrations by means of weighted Sturm–Liouville differential operators, canonical systems of differential
equations, and multidimensional Schr¨odinger operators are provided. The abstract notions of boundary triplets and Weyl functions have their roots in the theory of ordinary differential operators; they appear in a slightly different context also in
the treatment of partial differential operators.
