Abstract

In recent years, universities have emphasised education and training to develop student 21st century competencies. This development addresses new challenges associated with the digital transformation that has taken place in our societies over the past decade. This trend has steadily accelerated, especially in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Can digital business simulations contribute distinctively to successfully solving these challenges? If yes, what has to happen to ensure this success? In this paper, we define a framework for success and report the results of analyses conducted in a case study on the implementation of the Topsim General Management Simulation, illustrating how this simulation fulfils the requirements for success.
