Abstract
The temperature of the propagating medium is an important parameter for investigations of the attenuation characteristics of satellite paths. Using experimental results from the satellite OTS as well as from radiometers it is shown that in many cases the widely used value of 270 K leads to a severe underestimation of the expected attenuation and that a value of ca. 235 K is more adequate.
