Abstract
Cables are ubiquitous in electronic based systems. Electromagnetic emission of cables and crosstalk between
wires are important issues in electromagnetic compatibility and are to be minimized in the design phase. In this respect the
determination of effective permittivity appears to be a key issue in comparing measurements and simulation. To facilitate
the design, models of different complexity and accuracy, for instance circuit models or finite element simulations, are
utilized. The per unit length parameters R0, L0, C0 and G0 were determined by means of measurement in the frequency
and time domain and by finite element simulations in the frequency domain and compared.
