Abstract

There is a strong effort to improve the efficiency of renewable energy systems in order to reduce the CO2 emissions. This paper addresses an approach to increase the efficiency of an ocean wave energy plant with a model based predictive controller. For this controller it is necessary to have a prediction of the ocean waves and a model of the whole system. The future development of the ocean waves is predicted by an AR‐model. A system identification yields the model of the energy plant.
