Abstract

The Division of Geomechanics CSIRO, has an extensive research programme involving the development and verification of computer programs for modelling in mining geomechanics. The scope of the Division's work is outlined, the various numerical techniques being developed are described and some applications of the programs are illustrated. Ongoing efforts to make the programs more accessible to mine design engineers, and plans for future research, are discussed.
