Abstract

Aim: CPC with minimized dependency of the counting efficiency ( on the particle material Alternative potential working fluids were benchmarked against n Butanol as the present standard As a result, we present a suitable working fluid ideal for measurements on heterogeneous aerosols like, e g brake wear or environmental aerosols.
A pre selection of potential working fluids in line to our previous work for a high temperature CPC working fluid 1 was done
first
• We scanned 71 substances from 9 substance classes
• Careful literature survey, simulations, safety and environmental considerations and experimental work
• Hypothesis the CE of a CPC with a given geometry, at a certain flow rate and fixed Δ𝑇 depends primarily on
1. the working fluid
2. the particle material
