Techniques from data visualisation allow light to be shed on otherwise opaque and intimidating datasets. Exploratory visualisations help researchers explore and analyse large and unfamiliar datasets to make observations and gain insights. Explanatory visualisations are then used to present results and insights to a wider public.
This talk will survey some of the main techniques from exploratory and explanatory information visualisation, and will then look at how such visualisations can be built to work on the web.
