Description

Additive Manufacturing (AM) as a service is already offered to consumers, as well as to business customers in industry. Various service platforms exist. AM as a service for the healthcare domain is a rather new concept. In this paper we provide an overview of challenges and special requirements of providing AM as a service for medical applications such as implants, anatomic models, and medical tools. We discuss these aspects, based on a practical case of an AM lab operated in a hospital and present the design of such a platform and its specific challenges in the healthcare domain.
