Description
Research and development in the field of laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) of metals give rise to many applications in aviation and automotive industries to optimise productivity as well as the weight of components such as brackets. Spot welding processes are very well suitable for joining those components with structural parts due to the good mechanical performance, weight reduction and economical advantages. This study compares the integrity and quasi-static mechanical performance of LPBF-processed AlSi10Mg to wrought AA6061-T6 joints produced by different processes. The novel refill friction stir spot welding (RFSSW) process was compared against the established resistance spot welding (RSW) and friction stir spot welding (FSSW) technologies
