Modification of meso-Substituted Tin Porphyrins, a Solubility Investigation

Description

Tin porphyrins are well known in literature due to their high photocatalytic activity. Their applications range from photodynamic therapy in medicine to environmental technologies such as bulk-hetero-junction solar cells. However, a limiting factor is the poor solubility in common organic solvents of the commercially available m-tetraphenylporphyrins (e.g. 45 mmol/l in CHCl3). Therefore, we introduced different alkyl groups (Me, n-Bu, t-Bu) to m-Tetraphenylporphyrin in order to investigate their effect on their solubility. Furthermore, we compare the solubility and reactivity to m-Tetraalkylporphyrins (Me, n-Bu, n-Pr).
