For decades, the standard approach in numerical simulations has been to linearize the behavior of anisotropic rock materials. However, despite acknowledging the complex nature of soft rock materials, and the significance of accounting for stress-dependency, there has been a lack of advancements in developing constitutive models for these materials. In order to make progress in this field, it is crucial to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the interplay between inherent and stress-induced anisotropic effects in soft rocks.
