In the last years problems in the power supply of electric energy were rising and the institute noted a greater amount of work and application expenditure at condition evaluation, aging behaviour as well as life span of electric energy systems, devices and components. On the one hand beyond the actual high voltage technology are thereby additional work areas in the field of modelling and simulation, diagnostic and evaluation process as well as new maintenance strategies connected. On the other hand we were and are demanded beside these technical tasks on part of utilities, industry and economy to employ considerations about project, asset, quality and risk management, as well as to prepare an appropriate suggestion. Therefore the sphere of activity of the purely technical adjustment expanded to planning, handling and mastering of non-technical tasks and covers emphasis:

Short Description:
Beside teaching and research the institute deals with practical performances of high voltage investigations and high voltage tests as well as systems engineering and evaluation of high voltage installations and devices. The institute is divided in three areas: High voltage engineering (responsibility see below), system performance (responsibility see below) and high voltage laboratory, where tests, investigations and measurements of insulations, devices and systems of energy engineering, especially tests and investigations on oil/paper insulation systems are accomplished.
