Project Details

Description

Objective of the project is to significantly increase productivity while simultaneously increasing process reliability and quality by realizing a controlled adaptive grinding process, which opens up significant savings potentials. In this context, in addition to the parameters of grinding forces and spindle performance, thermal damage of the peripheral zone is used for the first time as a parameter. In-process measurement of the properties of the peripheral zone is the basis for this method. Determination of the cutting ability of the grinding tool within the machine is not possible with sufficient accuracy using state-of-the-art technology. For this reason grinding has to take place with very high values of safety (> 20 %). Usually grinding is realized at the end of the process chain.
