Art, Technology and Nature (Univ.-Ass.Mag.art.Dr.phil. Brigitte Franzen)

Orientation on sciences of nature and technology are defining the relation of art and nature and its ideas during the 19th and 20th century. The motive of a "garden" or "landscape" is seen as an hybrid between art, nature and technology and is confronted with knowledge of natural history and human sciences. The city itself is developed as the contrary but also a metaphor for nature - e.g. when it is called a "jungle". It is the site for contemporary discourse on nature. Which flow and transfer of ideas and methods can be identified between natural sciences and art production and vice versa? Are there disciplines who are bridging the gaps? And how are those positions reflected and represented in social and art contexts?
