Project Details
Description
In Stockholm tunnel four relevant rock types are specified: Metagraywacke, granite, gneiss and metabasites. In this project the Uniaxial Compressive Strength (UCS) of rock cores representing these basic rock types will be performed. In addition to the UCS as most relevant property, additional parameters such as the ultrasonic p-wave speed, the Brazilian disc tensile strength, the Cerchar Abrasiviness Index and the petrographic modal composition will be measured. Among the four relevant rock units the focus will be laid on samples representing metagraywacke, as this rock type accounts for approximately 70% of the tunnel length. In a comparative study the potential influence of the testing standards defined by ASTM and ISRM, respectively, on the test results will be investigated.
