AT02_LEC - Performance Potential of the 3+ Engine Concept

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

Stringent regulations for the emission of greenhouse gases and pollutants have been adopted. To comply with these emission regulations, engine internal measures might not be sufficient so that exhaust aftertreatment systems need to be integrated. To compensate for the additional space needed for these technologies, an increase in engine power density allows the installation of smaller and/or fewer engines on vessels. Furthermore, additional benefits can be obtained from reducing wall heat losses and friction losses.
