Description

In this project, we will design a future Smart City Project in Graz Reininghaus that demonstrates how living and industry areas can be situated close together. The innovations elaborated will be organizational and investments. The Smart City concept, as defined in the preparatory project “I live Graz”, asks for “short distances” that can be covered by foot or bike and a high integration of diverging activities (living – working – education – leisure) as well as for noteworthy economic activities in the urban area. This will only function, as new systems for the mobility of people and goods are applied and all stakeholders are ready to cooperate. The stakeholders to be included are the City’s administration, the companies (management and employees), neighbors and investors. Many of them signed a “Letter of Intent” and will take part in the process. Energy offers another possibility for a close relationship. It is not only about the energy demand and the utilization of industrial waste heat, but also about the peak power needed in the overall system (storage systems) and the share of renewable energies. The “Green and Blue Infrastructure” offers another possibility for a joint design of the quarter.
