BE2020_Flexibil - Model-based control for Technology Flexibilization

The main objective is to increase the flexibility and general range of application of different energy technologies by means of control in order to support the transition towards a renewable energy supply. The technologies in focus are thermochemical biomass conversion, solar thermal plants and heat pumps. To achieve the desired flexibilization model-based control approaches need to be utilized, since they allow an explicit consideration of the often coupled and nonlinear correlations between the different process variables. In some cases the further or newly developed controls will also introduce new control variables in order to improve the flexibility of the considered technology.
