Building on an existing database, algorithms are developed for self-diagnosis and error detection as well as for increased in-cylinder pressure signal accuracy. The database consists of real engine measurement data in which sensor malfunction was observed. This database can be enlarged by systematically provoking sensor malfunction while taking measurements on single cylinder research engines. Algorithms that increase the accuracy of the in-cylinder pressure signal are developed in the simulation environment MATLAB/Simulink. The requirements for pressure signal accuracy are defined by the industrial partners based on experience and serve as the basis for the measurements on single cylinder research engines used to generate the database.
