C4T1 - LEC - Online Measurement of Oil Consumption Based on the Tracer Method

Within the framework of project C4T1 new approaches for measuring lube oil consumption on internal combustion engines (ICE) based on the tracer method shall be explored and subsequently validated via engine test bench experiments. In a first step an adequate tracer substance shall be determined, which will then be homogeneously blended in the oil. In the next step it will be tested and evaluated in the course of engine test bench experiments. The project aims for revealing a new approach to lube oil consumption measurement on ICEs, which is supposed to compensate for the challenges and disadvantages of state-of-the-art methods.
