CarbDown - Orientating tests for the decarbonatization of clay materials Laboratory experiments and computer modeling

The project conducts orientating test series processing two raw materials (clay samples) and is mainly based on a leaching approach (dissolution of Ca(Mg)-carbonate by carbonic acid). Some fundamental as well as practical process understanding is anticipated, which i) relies on specific calculations associated with the carbonate system, ii) an empirical evaluation applying laboratory experiments (including optimized reactors and online sensors) and iii) is founded on a numerical examination and quantification of the results by computer based modeling (reaction kinetics, prognosis).
