    Description

In 2001 a new CD-Laboratory called "Kraftfahrzeugmeßtechnik" (Automotive Measurement Research), chaired by Prof. Dr. Georg Brasseur, was established at the Institute of Electrical Measurement and Measurement Signal Processing (EMT). The industrial partners define the scientific research field of the Laboratory by contributing their specific development problems and design goals for the lab. Currently the lab consists of four modules: 1.) "Simulator for Energy Distribution in Vehicles", with the company AVL, Graz. The aim is the increase of fuel efficiency by modelling, simulation, and control of all energy-relevant electromechanical systems used in motor vehicles. 2.) "Demonstrator Circuit for a Vehicle Qualified Capacitive Angular and Distance Measurement Principle", with Austria Microsystems AG, Unterpremstätten. The aim is the design of an ASIC encompassing improved measurement algorithms to simplify prototype development of new measurement applications. 3.) "Identification of Multiple Transponders in the Field of a Transceiving Antenna", with Axess AG in Koppl, Salzburg, aiming at fast readout of multiple low-cost transponder chipcards in the field of a base station antenna. 4.) "Hybrid Tracking in Urban Areas", with No Limits IT GmbH, Graz and GEODATA Ziviltechnikergesellschaft mbH, Leoben, aiming to find location and orientation of an object in urban areas and to follow its movement. For a more detailed description of the modules see E&T INFO, May 2001 issue.
