Contactless Security Controllers for Industry 4.0

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

Increasing worldwide competition drives innovations in industrial automation and production. To increase productivity and resource efficiency, process automation and networking across devices, factories and value chains emerges. Consequently, also new business models evolve, including smart maintenance services. These aim towards optimizing two aspects of industrial equipment maintenance tasks in a multi-stakeholder situation between equipment customer and equipment maintainer, on-site and remote monitoring/updating. Both automated processes and advanced connectivity require trust between the involved entities, and thus demand for robust hardware-based security systems and modules. The project concentrates on a dual-interface trust anchor for maintenance services that allows to access maintenance, configuration and update of devices based on a trusted computing base and with a guarantee of limited access to necessary data only.
