CT01_LEC - Spark Plug Wear Modeling Incorporating Electrode Materials and the Ignition System

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

Predicting spark plug life for real engine conditions is a significant challenge. With the available approaches for the development of spark plugs, it is not possible to record all the decisive influencing factors on wear, especially if real engine situations are considered. The challenges lie in the description of the combustion chamber situation by parameters which cause wear, in the determination of the connection situation between spark plug and cylinder head and above all in the description of the material properties of the spark plug.
