DFG - Charon - "CHARON: Marine carbonate archives: Controls on carbonate precipitation and pathways of diagenetic alteration"

The present project is focused on laboratory experiments for elemental/isotopic discrimination and nano/micro structural changes during (i) inorganic precipitation of the most frequent and widespread carbonates in nature (Mg) calcite and aragonite with special regard on intermediate phases like ACC and vaterite and (ii) transformation of High-Mg calcite and aragonite to (Low-Mg) calcite throughout diagenesis.
