Diagnostic Methods Based on the Passive Electrical Properties of Tissue

Project: Research area

Project Details

Description

Objective: the development, application and promotion of diagnostic methods which are based on the measurement of the passive electrical properties of biological tissue. The latter are the electrical conductivity, the dielectric permittivity and the magnetic permeability. They are related with interesting (patho-) physiological information about cells and tissues within the human body, e. g. hydration, cell type and orientation, state of the cell membranes etc. The inherent interdisciplinarity of the field implies the colaboration of engineers, biologists and physicians with different specialities.
