Project Details

Description

Fully three dimensional digital models of urban areas are the next step in improving data for the management of our growing cities. Such 3D data will not only present the geometric relationship in a city, but also permit to create photo-realistic renderings for various decision making and training tasks. The socalled CyberCity consists of a 3D geometric and textural data base and subsumes the concept of information system into the concept of multimedia systems. The objectives of the project are to design a complete work flow to create virtual city scapes. An initial example is given by a city block in vienna, another example shows data from Graz. The multiple input dataset for our approach consists of 2D GIS data, aerial photographs and photos from facades. The resulting dataset is prepared for realtime visualization and interaction.
