Description

The aim of this project is the development of a radar system for automated recordings of the migration of birds, bats and large butterflies. Due to the legal situation in nature and environmental protection ecological planners are required to determine the species at risk as closely as possible. By detecting the wing beat pattern with a Fixed Beam Radar bird species can be categorized at least in groups. Also the distinction between birds and bats is an important project goal. The planned radar system will allow a quantification of birds and bats, which is not possible with conventional ship radars.
