Description
The use of wide bandgap semiconductor switching devices in electric machine drives results in power density and efficiency compared to conventional silicon-based solutions. To assess the risk of partial discharges, it is necessary to understand the voltage distribution in the windings and associated insulation of an electrical machine during inverter operation. For this purpose, a suitable high-frequency model of the machine windings is required that can predict the internal voltage distribution.
