This project aims the development and characterization of new materials for fuel cells which directly convert ethanol to electric power. The enhancement of the performance of direct ethanol fuel cells (DEFCs) is based on the development of new multistage processes to gain Pt free anode catalysts and composite polysaccharide membranes.
