Project Details

Description

Study of secondary reactions in thick targets up to 2.5 GeV at COSY Jülich: Calculation of neutron multiplicity distribution in thick targets like Hg, W, Pb; dependence of neutron production on target geometry. ESS-target-moderator reflector time dependent neutron flux density optimization. Development of scattering kernels for cold moderator materials especially H2, D2 and CH4 at 20 K and 100 K. Radiation protection and safety considerations. Development of effective shielding calculational methods including sky- and ground shine determination.
