Description
The Action will support participation and contribution of Austrian stakeholders to the European Blockchain Service Infrastructure (EBSI), in particular as regards diploma use case based on Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI). Specifically, the Action will cover:
1. EBSI infrastructure development and operations by supporting the setup and operation of the Austrian EBSI node.
2. EBSI cross-border use cases by designing and implementing a solution for digital diplomas based on SSI and the ESBI ledger, while considering related EU efforts (e.g. diploma use case within the European Self-Sovereign Identity Framework (ESSIF)). The solution will utilize and extend the existing IT infrastructure of the participating universities, which will allow them to interact with the EBSI ledger and issue SSI-based digital diplomas to stakeholders (aligned with emerging internet and industry standards such as Decentralized Identifiers and Verifiable Credentials at W3C and Decentralized Identity Foundation).
3. EBSI capacity building and training activities by delivering trainings within consortium and to third parties (private and public stakeholders) as well as sharing with EBSI community technical and business information about the Action (e.g. case studies, frameworks for implementing EBSI use cases) to facilitate an uptake of the EBSI by public services in other Member States. The Action will actively cooperate with other Member States (in particular other CEF funded Blockchain Actions) in the diploma use case.
As a result of this Action, the roll out of the ESBI (including relevant use case) will be supported in Austria, allowing delivery of cross-border public services based on the blockchain technology and enhancing the way citizens, government and businesses interact.
