Project Details

Description

The complexity of mobile devices and smart card systems is increasing continuously due to the rising requirements on performance. In portable systems not only the performance is an important attribute but, also the power and energy consumed by a task. Sources of energy used in smart card systems like batteries and electromagnetic fields are not such as ideal elements. Their effectiveness is heavily depending on the energy consumed over time. Optimization strategies proposed up to now are implemented statistically and the measurement of current profiles followed by manual optimizations is very time consuming. The key challenge in this project is the optimization of the software with the goal to minimize the consumed power and the current peaks for better adaptation of the current consumption to the source of energy.
