This project deals with the topic of computer-aided development in the automotive industry. A main work area of this work embraces the analysis of existing and the development of new knowledge-based methods to support the engineering processes in the disciplines of design and data management. The developed methods, solution approaches, and concepts provide the basis for the development of knowledge-based software solutions. The focus of the work are strategies that enable the efficient use of different CAD-Systems within a given project environment. This includes, for example, the compatibility of knowledge-based applications in different CAD-Systems (Multi-CAD). Furthermore, all developed approaches and solutions should be compatible for global usage. The developed methods are considered in the context of modern Product-Data-Management-(PDM)-Systems.
