Description
FTTH (Fibre To The Home) access networks offer broadband access to the Internet especially for the rural area. Furthermore, providing 100 Mbit/s per user enables the introduction of new IP-based services like Voice over IP (VoIP) and Television over IP (IP-TV). All aspects regarding the implementation of a FTTH-networks for the rural areas are examined, including installation of the fibre networks, protocols at the data link layer and network layer, applications and security.
