Health Care Technology Assessment

The objective of health care technology assessment is to provide all involved parties and especially the decision makers with relevant information on health care technology. Since the money for health care is limited, it has to be spent under strict consideration of effectiveness with regard to the long-term standard of health care. Innovations in the field of medical technology have to be assessed for their potential to enhance positive or to diminish negative impacts. Considered aspects are: 1) Health care technology in under-developed countries. 2) Central control and automation in hospitals. 3) Computer-based proposal request concerning technical equipment for interdisciplinarily used intensive care units. 4) Assessment of the economical relevance of medical technology in Styria.
