Heat and Mass Transfer

This field focuses on the computation as well as the experimental investigation of flows involving heat and mass transfer. The research activities encompass a wide spectrum of different applications ranging from industrial heating devices to automotive engineering components: design and optimization of industrial heat exchangers, convective thermal management of buildings, modeling of heat transfer with phase change. Mass transfer in the evaporation of multi-component drops (spray drying, fuel injection) and in the drying of pastes on substrates in modelled and studied experimentally. Another field is the drying of coatings on flat and cylindrical substrates.
