Project Details

Description

The current and future developments in the context of digitization that permeates a wide range of industries, public organizations and private environments underline the importance of information systems research whose purpose is to improve the performance of individuals or entire organizations in the work environment. In this regard, the field of work deals with the further development of methods for the holistic construction of such information systems with explicit inclusion of socio-technical and economic aspects. Digitization opens up many opportunities for process improvement with the help of new technologies such as smart devices. Currently and in the future there is a search for use cases in which the advantages of these technologies can be used profitably. Low entry barriers to the latest technologies open the way to innovative information services, which, however, do not always lead to the desired results. The embedding of new technologies into a socio-technical system, such as a business environment, requires a holistic view within the framework of the system design and the system implementation. This is precisely where the focus of the work area lies. The work area deals with: - theoretical methods for systematic conception, design and introduction of new information systems, as well as with the - concrete implementation of the conceptualized systems and their - Practical evaluation in the working environment. The focus of the working area lies in the intersection of the following interdisciplinary work areas: - Human-Centered Computing - Socio-technical Systems Design - Service Design - Systems engineering - Computer Supported Collaborative Work The research group focuses on the following fields of application to evaluate the developed theoretical methods and concepts: - Production - Healthcare - Public safety
