IMPMOD - Improved Perception of Motorcycle by Driving Simulator based Driving Education

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

The proposed project deals with limited perception of motorcycles by car drivers as a cause for accidents. The background of the study lies in the fact that around 60% of motorcycle accidents include collisions with other vehicles. A more detailed analysis shows that approximately half of these accidents are caused by these vehicles, usually cars. Limited visibility by low contrast, obstructed vision and others account for 40% of these accidents. Especially novice drivers are inexperienced and not particularly aware in assessing traffic situations, especially on visibility of the motorcycle. The present project investigates possible solutions by training of novice drivers in the driving simulator.
