Description

The application of highly emissive organic materials for solid state laser devices is encouraged by the demonstration of lasing in this class of material. This project adresses this technology with an enormous market potential. Luminescent polymers are very attractive for laser applications, because of their semiconducting behavior in combination with their intrinsic highly emissive properties exceeding conventional laere dyes. In addition to the simple and cost effective processing, these materials also provide the possibility of a chemical tuning in terms of spectral emission range and processibility. In spite of these very promising facts, the intended employment of these novel materials for laser application represents a completetly new technology. This requires a comprehensive approach including the chemical synthesis, physical characteristation, improved processing thechnologies and the development of suitable laser designs.
