Project Details

Description

Aim of the project is the putting into operation and testing of a modern energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer attached to a SEM. Special emphasis is put on light element analysis. The new device will be used, besides many other investigations, for the chemical analysis of scales in furnaces, superheaters ... of combustion and refuse incineration plants and both chemical and morphological analysis of fly ash particles. This should help both to minimize corrosion and to gain knowledge about the deposition of heavy metals (e.g. arsenic) on fly ash particles. Special software for a quick evaluation and representation of the measurements will be written.
