Project Details

Description

Instead of the use of isolated enzyme-preparations as biocatalyst, it is also possible to use whole cells or microorganisms for this purpose. This is especially advantagious for reactions which need coenzymes and cofactors in stoichiometrical amounts, because the metabolism of the cell is able to regenerate these compounds. When using isolated enzymes, however, it is necessary to provide recycling systems for these coenzymes. Our research is aimed mainly at hydroxylation reactions.
