Description

The microstructure of Fe-Nd-B-alloys with high magnetic coercivity is characterized by means of EELS-spectrometry and energy-filtering TEM. It was found that randomly orientated and well separated Nd2Fe14B-crystals are embedded in a Nd-rich matrix and the increase of coercivity can be related to the separation of the Nd-Fe-B-crystals. These investigations helped to explain the difference between the theoretically predicted and experimentally obtained results for the coercivity.
