Project Details

Description

The MISSION project "Datenpool" administrates data from earth observation sensors (satellite images) and topographic data sets (e.g. digital elevation models). The use of HyperWave guarantees prompt availability of the imagery and associated data via Internet with the option for expansion of the archives to a distributed configuration. Since the data transferred partially are of reasonable commercial value, also safety issues and control of data-flow are a major concern. By Java-applets and servlets, convenient user interfaces are implemented. This architecture allows to provide platform-independent and regularly updated tools for a variety of tasks like viewing catalogues with coverage-maps, conversion of coordinate systems or locating ground control points.
