The activities in this project shall provide a sound theoretical and experimental basis for material de-velopment activities of the MCL team in the field of surface and bulk precipitation in complex materials and the effects of precipitates on the material properties. The goals of the project are:
Adaptation of the numerical methods (based on the software MatCalc) for predicting precipitation from solid solutions and development of new methodologies for taking into account simultaneous long-range diffusion processes (ongoing and extended activity from project SP16).
Efficient characterisation of grain boundary precipitates with a special focus on high alloyed tool steels and aluminium alloys.
Development of methods for characterisation of nanosized and microsized precipitates in surface treated specimens.
