Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

The Styrian Chamber of Commerce commissioned the institute to prepare a preliminary study on the topic of Sustainable solid construction. The aim of the study is to create a basis for assessing the strengths and weaknesses of solid construction materials such as brick or concrete in the context of sustainable construction and to compare them with the competition. Part 1 of the study examines the current and future framework conditions for sustainable building in Austria and Europe and provides an overview of the available ecological parameters. Part 2 compares five common wall constructions qualitatively and quantitatively from an ecological point of view, evaluates the conclusions and identifies the need for future research and action, and lists technical arguments for the future positioning of solid construction in terms of sustainability.
