Project Details

Description

The close cooperation of the three partners in the consortium should develop a guideline to estimate realistic air change rates for residential buildings of a specific floor plan. Horizontal through flow via defined ventilation openings in the building faade under different wind conditions is considered. The project is restricted to investigations of the air exchange driven by pressure differences across the building faade caused by natural wind but excludes thermal effects. The complicated interaction of the flow around the building with internal flow conditions through ventilation openings in will be made accessible by a combination of wind-tunnel experiments and numerical flow simulations from the project partners. Experiments and simulations allow the development of measurement data and numerical results for air change rates under specific test conditions. Based on these results the possible amount of energy saving by application of the investigated ventilation concept will be quantified for a selected sample building.
