Description

In this project we measure near edge fine structures of transition metal compounds, such as vanadium nitrides, niobium nitrides, chromium nitrides, titanium oxides, nickel- and cobalt-oxides and various carbides.The ELNES measurements are performed with a monochromated TEM. The aim is to establish a data set which can be used for fingerprint identification of unknown compounds. The experiments are compared with x-ray absorption measurements and band structure calculations of the ELNES performed in cooperation with a research group of the University of Leeds.
