Project Details

Description

Nonideal properties of switching devices such as voltage drop, switching lags of transistors and necessary dead time to prevent shortage of inverter arms cause distortion of output voltage of PWM-Voltage-Source-Inverters. Additionally there are limitation of the inverter output voltage (overmodulation) and minimum pulsewidth constraints which cause nonlinear transfer characteristic in control systems. This may result in a serious deterioration of performance in V/f or FO controlled induction machine drives. The aim of this project is to develop techniques for identification and measurement of voltage deviations due the nonideal behaviour, to study consequences of inverter nonidealities on drive systems and to develop appropriate control algorithms to overcome these effects.
